By 2060, the world’s population could be 10 billion, according to projections from the United Nations, which, incidentally, also anticipates that more than two-thirds of the world population will live in urban areas by 2050. Supporting the earth’s quickly growing population demands more intelligent use of resources. Enter smart buildings, which can help optimize energy consumption while also offering an array of other capabilities such as ensuring optimal use of office space while also gauging employee productivity. Brian is a veteran journalist with more than ten years’ experience covering an array of technologies including the Internet of Things, 3-D printing, and cybersecurity. Before coming to Penton and later Informa, he served as the editor-in-chief of UBM’s Qmed where he overhauled the brand’s news coverage and helped to grow the site’s traffic volume dramatically.
