As his first week in office comes to an end, President Donald Trump signed another executive order on artificial intelligence as AI continues as a top priority.

On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order eliminating AI policies implemented by the Biden administration as he moves to “enhancing America’s global AI dominance.”

The executive order does not specify which Biden policies the White House is referring to, but on Monday Trump revoked Executive Order 14110, enacted in 2023 for the “Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence” as one of dozens on the Trump Administration's executive order “Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions.”

“The Biden AI Executive Order established unnecessarily burdensome requirements for companies developing and deploying AI that would stifle private sector innovation and threaten American technological leadership,” according to a White House fact sheet.

The executive order signed Thursday highlights that the development of AI systems in the U.S. “must be free from ideological bias or engineered social agendas.”

“With the right government policies, the United States can solidify its position as the leader in AI and secure a brighter future for all Americans,” the statement continued.

It directs the development of an AI action plan led by the assistant to the president for science and technology, the White House AI and crypto czar and the national security advisor.

“The order directs the development of an AI action plan to sustain and enhance America’s AI dominance. It further directs the White House to revise and reissue OMB AI memoranda to departments and agencies on the federal government’s acquisition and governance of AI to ensure that harmful barriers to America’s AI leadership are eliminated.”
