Figure AI founder Brett Adcock said his company sees the potential of shipping 100,000 humanoid robots over the next four years.

Adcock made the announcement on a LinkedIn post.

Before it gets there, the founder said there are several steps the company needs to take, including sticking with its strategy to stay focused on a small number of clients.

“Early on, it’s more efficient for us to grow vertically within a few clients than to spread out across many,” he said.

The company emerged from stealth in 2023 and is backed by OpenAI, Microsoft and Nvidia.

It has been a year since Figure signed BMW as its first commercial customer with a “fleet of robots performing end-to-end operations,”  Adcock said.

The company last year confirmed it agreed to a deal for the German automaker to use its general-purpose robots in car manufacturing.

In his Thursday post on LinkedIn, Adcock said Figure signed its newest customer that he called “one of the biggest U.S. companies,” but did not identify the company.

It looks like that company and BMW would help Figure reach its goals.

“It gives us potential to ship at high volumes which will drive cost reduction and AI data collection,” Adcock said. “Between both customers, we believe there is a path to 100,000 robots over the next four years.”

Adcock said Figure successfully began running an end-to-end neural network on that new company’s use case.

“Learning the use case with AI is the only path here as heuristics would be impossible to write,” he said. “And every time I see these policies running, it feels like pure magic!”

Adcock said the next step is training the robot to perform use-case tasks at high speeds and with improved performance.

In August, Figure unveiled its next-generation humanoid robot, Figure 02, featuring an entirely revamped hardware and software design with improved AI and computer vision capabilities.
