AI, Sustainability Take Center Stage at Hannover Messe 2024

Four thousand exhibitors are set to showcase the latest innovations in AI, robotics and machine learning with a particular focus on sustainability and autonomy at Hannover Messe 2024 April 22-26.

This year’s theme is “Energizing a Sustainable Industry. Hannover Messe organizers said tech on display will include “machines controlled by AI, robots capable of independent learning,” hydrogen and energy solutions and software to measure CO2 emissions, showcasing the future of sustainable industry in Europe.

The event will also provide a space for a young workforce to meet potential employers through a young talent training initiative, “Your Future,” in a bid to showcase the ways businesses can tackle fears over labor shortages.

“Our exhibitors will show that a competitive and sustainable industry is also possible in Europe. This, however, requires a reliable regulatory framework – one that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Jochen Köckler, managing board chairman at the Deutsche Messe group of companies.

Exhibitors include tech giants like AWS, Bosch, Google, Microsoft, SAP, Schneider Electric and Siemens, as well as more than 300 startups.

Artificial Intelligence

AI and its role in optimizing industries will be a key topic at this year’s event and  innovators will demonstrate AI-enabled tools to digitize and streamline industrial processes.

“The speed at which AI solutions are finding their way into industry is breathtaking,” said Köckler. “Companies need to invest now and, above all, introduce their employees to the opportunities offered by AI, otherwise they will get left behind by the competition,

“AI is the key to competitiveness and sustainability in industry.”

Generative AI is also expected to play a central role at this year’s event.

Sustainability

Sustainability is also a key topic at Hannover Messe 2024 with companies showcasing technologies “for a connected and climate-neutral industry and provide a forum for a global policy discussion among industry, government, science and social representatives.”

Companies including Microsoft, Schneider Electric and Siemens will be exhibiting at this year’s event, showcasing their tech to help manufacturing and transportation industries with their decarbonization strategies.

Several companies from the hydrogen and fuel cell industry will also be showcasing their technology.

“Visitors to Hannover Messe are looking for answers to the question of how to make sensible use of automation, artificial intelligence, state-of-the-art drive technology, renewable energies and hydrogen.” said Köckler. “We will be…creating the framework for discussions between representatives of politics and industry, hopefully allowing decisions to be taken on a specific road map towards a functioning hydrogen economy.”
