Connected operations cloud company Samsara has agreed to expand its collaboration with Mobilisights, the data-as-a-service arm of automotive company Stellantis.
The tie-up would provide businesses across Europe seamless, integrated access to vehicle telematics data from Stellantis brands, including Jeep, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Peugeot, DS, Opel and Vauxhall.
Most vehicles produced from 2024 are covered, plus select models manufactured between 2018 and 2024. Both electric vehicles and commercial fleets are included.
The partnership would allow fleet operators to connect their vehicles to Samsara’s connected operations platform without the need for any hardware installation, providing easy access to data such as location, mileage and fuel levels.
With new vehicles able to join the platform quickly by the inputting of a vehicle identification number, which could be done remotely, operators could benefit from the efficiencies.
Paul George, director of OEM at Samsara, hailed the deal, saying: “By eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware, this integration simplifies vehicle onboarding and ensures tamper-proof telematics access.
“We’re excited to work with Mobilisights to deliver real-time data insights that empower European businesses to operate more efficiently, safely and sustainably.”
The Stellantis partnership adds to Samsara’s growing list of integrations with major partners, which include Ford Pro, General Motors and John Deere.
The automaker, which also features Ram, Dodge and Chrysler in its stable, had a difficult 2024 in the United States, with sales down 15% to just over 1.3 million. But it remains one of the major players in Europe, where it was second only to the all-conquering Volkswagen Group in total passenger car and commercial vehicle sales, and accounted for about 17% of market share.
Sebastien Fraysse, vice president at Mobilisights, said: “By combining Samsara’s expertise in connected operations with data harmonization powered by Mobilisights’ platform, we’re enabling fleet-based businesses across Europe to seamlessly access critical and actionable vehicle data.
“This collaboration underscores our commitment to delivering innovative, data-driven solutions that drive better outcomes for our customers.”
