Brazilian Farmers Gain Satellite Connectivity for Smart Equipment
A collaboration between CNH Industrial and Intelsat will roll out satellite terminals at remote farms by the end of this year
Farmers across Brazil are set to gain satellite connectivity from a new partnership between CNH Industrial and Intelsat, a satellite and terrestrial communication network operator.
Intelsat will provide multi-orbit internet access to connect CNH equipment in remote locations and easy-to-use satellite terminals – typically deployed for military and airline use – across farms.
The service will be rolled out by the end of this year in Brazil, with potential future deployments in the U.S., Australia and other regions.
According to the partners, the service will help farmers connect and coordinate smart equipment and will play an important role in supporting precision agriculture, improving productivity and yield.
“As the first satellite communications company to provide multi-orbit connectivity to farmers around the world, Intelsat’s partnership with CNH will unlock new capabilities in the most remote locations through our global communications platform,” said Dave Wajsgras, Intelsat’s CEO. “We’ve proven that ruggedized, built-for-purpose terminals that can access multiple satellite orbits from anywhere on Earth offer the highest network reliability, greater throughput and the best user experience."
