MGA Entertainment is sprinkling a little toymaker magic on the electric vehicle sector, with plans to monetize electric motorbikes.
The creator of L.O.L. Surprise! and Little Tikes announced the launch of its VIRO Motors Division last week along with its EV Café Racer that even 13-year-olds can ride. Retailing for $500, the Café Racer is already available at Walmart stores nationwide, with other chains to follow.
With top speeds of 15 miles per hour and seven miles of battery life before charging, the EV Café battery can be replenished at any electric vehicle charging station.
With a 24-volt motor under its hood, there’s enough power to turn the 200-watt rear hub wheel once the twist throttle is pushed into action.
In terms of safety, the bike’s speed can be capped at 10 miles per hour for less experienced riders. It also has mini LEDs for headlamps and brake lights.
The EV Café Racer is the first product entry for MGA’s VIRO Motors subsidiary, a special purpose acquisition company formed in May that’s selling shares ahead of a public listing next year.
Company CEO and founder Isaac Larian said the EV Café Racer will soon be joined by other models the company is currently working on which are expected to offer more range and amenities.
