Robot Deliveries Tested in Boston’s Seaport District
British robotics company Peyk teamed with WS Development to test its autonomous delivery robots
A British robotics company has launched robot delivery in Boston’s Seaport District.
Earlier this year, Peyk teamed with developer WS Development to test its Peykbot autonomous robots across various retail outlets in the Seaport within a 5-mile radius. Over a month, Peykbot completed numerous deliveries, transporting goods to multiple shops and buildings.
Boston was the company’s first commercial test of the delivery robots in the U.S.
“It is definitely exciting to enter the U.S. market by trialing our robots in a very modern and sustainable district within Boston,” said Peyk founder and CEO Salman Moghimi. “Robots are the future and a location like Seaport is a prime example of where they should operate.”
Peyk, posted on X (formerly Twitter) calling the U.S. a “prime market for robotics and autonomous delivery.”
“As a startup within MassRobotics, we are proud to have this opportunity to be the first to showcase sidewalk robotic delivery within Boston,” the company post read.
Peyk joined MassRobotics in June as part of the company’s entrance into the U.S. calling it “an ideal hub to cater to this huge market.”
“They provide us with opportunities to connect with high-status organizations to commence our robotic trials, welcome us in their robotic-focused events and allow our engineering team to benefit from an amazing lab facility at their headquarters in Boston,” Peyk said in June.
According to Peykbot, its delivery robots can operate 24/7 helping reduce the number of vehicles on the road and improve traffic flow while optimizing routes, reducing congestion and improving delivery times.
