AI software company Zapata AI and full-stack quantum company D-Wave Quantum are extending their partnership to enable integrated quantum and generative AI products and services in D-Wave’s Leap cloud platform.

Quantum computing shows promise in delivering more accurate and efficient AI model training and can use AI’s predictive capabilities to optimize business processes.

In certain business use cases, quantum computing could supercharge AI for complex, multifactor models, deep learning, natural language processing and computer vision without the surge in data center energy demands AI is causing.

Under the agreement, the companies plan to combine Zapata’s universal generative AI rapid development software with D-Wave’s Leap quantum cloud service to support quantum, hybrid quantum and classical AI products.

“In addition to the business value we’re delivering to customers through our universal generative AI solutions, which combine time-series data computational models and large language model optimization, this agreement also enables Zapata to provide the precious compute capacity, which enterprises are so desperate for as they deepen their investment in generative AI applications to solve complex business problems,” said Zapata AI CEO and co-founder Christopher Savoie.

The joint development work is expected to focus on better, more energy-efficient model training and combining generative AI and quantum optimization.

“Zapata AI has been pioneering quantum-based generative modeling for over five years, well before generative AI stole headlines and became a mainstream enterprise priority,” said D-Wave CEO Alan Baratz.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with Zapata and leverage their industry-leading algorithmic capabilities and scientific expertise to bring a quantum-enabled generative AI platform to market.”

The new service includes a one-year enterprise subscription license to Zapata’s Orquestra generative AI software development and collaboration platform and support for use case research, prototype configuration and application piloting.
