Video: Quantum Computing Heads to Commercialization
Revenue projected to top $5B a year
Quantum computing is an emerging global market with initial use cases set to transform financial services and healthcare, according to Omdia’s head of AI, IoT and quantum research, Josh Builta.
In this interview with Informa AI and IoT editorial director Chuck Martin at the Embedded IoT World track at DesignCon 2022, Builta says quantum computing software, hardware and services are likely to exceed $5 billion in the coming years.
Omdia is launching a Quantum Intelligence Service featuring qualitative reports on trends and market surveys. This includes surveying enterprise adopters of quantum in the U.S., China and Germany to provide an understanding of quantum plans and the challenges and a market tracker on a range of activity, news and events in quantum.
As quantum computing moves from the lab to commercialization, it is attracting a great deal of investment, acquisitions and mergers.
“The venture capitalists are over the quantum computing space,” says Builta. “There's a lot of excitement. There's a lot of uncertainty to be fair, but it's drawn a lot of money, a lot of interest from that community.”
