Locus Robotics Breaks Ground on US Facility
The company is working on expanding its pipeline of warehouse automation robots
Locus Robotics has broken ground on its new global headquarters in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
The company’s new facility will span nearly 200,000 square feet and serve as a hub for its global operations and house research and development teams working to expand its pipeline of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for warehouse automation.
"We're thrilled to break ground on our new headquarters in Wilmington," said Rick Faulk, Locus Robotics’ CEO. "This is a significant milestone that reflects our robust growth trajectory and our dedication to revolutionizing the warehouse automation sector with cutting-edge, AI-driven robotics solutions."
Locus has been working on building out its AMR offerings using its Warehouse Automation Platform, which provides a one-stop-shop platform for multiple robotic units, optimizing robotic task allocation, route planning, and resource use.
The company said it hopes its solutions can ease pressures from ongoing labor shortages throughout industries, optimizing operations in sectors including health care, manufacturing and retail.
"Our new facility will stimulate job creation and innovation within the region, aligning with our vision of fostering world-class technological advancement and economic growth," said Faulk.
Locus has had its sights set on expansion since it achieved unicorn status in 2021, with a particular focus on ramping up its presence in Europe and the U.K. Now, the company has turned its attention to the U.S. market, with customers including DHL and investors such as Goldman Sachs.
