Neuralink Patient Plays Mario Kart with His Mind
In its latest video, Neuralink has showcased its first patient playing video games with his father using only his thoughts
Neuralink has released a video update showing the first patient to receive its brain-computer implant playing Mario Kart and discussing the impacts of the brain chip.
Noland Arbaugh, a 29-year-old quadriplegic person who lost his mobility in a diving accident, said the implant has so far been “life-changing”.
"This is going to change the world,” Arbaugh said at the Neuralink meeting. "It’s only been a month and I can’t believe how much my life has changed because of it…I am so blessed to be part of it."
The video, shown at the Neuralink company-wide meeting, shows Arbaugh controlling various programs on his computer to grow accustomed to using the chip, before progressing to play Mario Kart at home alongside his father using his thoughts to control his avatar.
The update follows a video Neuralink posted last week of Arbaugh controlling his laptop cursor with his mind, playing chess and controlling music.
Arbaugh also became the first person to send a tweet using only their thoughts.
''Twitter banned me because they thought I was a bot, and @X and @elonmusk reinstated me because I am,'' he wrote.
