VMware Announces 5G Innovations at Mobile World Congress 2023
The new offerings will help and accelerate the modernization of CSP networks
VMware has announced several new services and partnerships designed to provide 5G connection to Communications Service Providers (CSPs) and enterprises. The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress this week in Barcelona.
“It’s a time of change for service providers as they modernize their networks and monetize their services,” said Sanjay Uppal, VMware’s SVP. “Meanwhile, enterprises are seeking more secure, reliable, and better delivery of apps, data, and services to the edge for branch offices, factory floors, clinics and retail stores.
“We’re announcing innovations to help our customers with their transformation efforts by delivering multi-cloud solutions for service providers and enhanced networking and security capabilities to support the needs at the edge.”
Among the solutions on display, VMware is showcasing its Service Management and Orchestration framework, which works to simplify, optimize and automate radio access networks. The company is also demonstrating its Telco Cloud platform, designed to offer “telco-grade intelligent networking and lateral security capabilities.”
VMware also announced the availability of security features such as distributed firewall and distributed intrusion detection and prevention, in addition to energy efficiency use cases for 4G/5G balancing needs.
Finally, VMware introduced a VMware Certified Professional education program and certificate for VMware SD-WAN and SASE to help partners and customers identify professionals with the skills and expertise necessary to effectively deploy and manage VMware SD-WAN solutions.
