Samsung has partnered with ABB to expand its SmartThings application into more homes and buildings.

According to Chanwoo Park, head of IoT business at Samsung, SmartThings has helped the company create an “ecosystem of smart appliances making homes smarter and more efficient.”

“We are excited to build on that by partnering with ABB to expand the SmartThings experience to new customers making it easier for consumers to reduce costs and create positive environmental impact,” he said.

ABB brings to the partnership its ABB-free@home automation, which can control systems in residential and commercial buildings from access to detection, communication and climate systems.

Samsung says the integration of Samsung SmartThings and ABB-free@home will create a “one-stop-shop for IoT solutions” for monitoring and controlling building technologies. The two companies also plan to develop a cloud-to-cloud integration giving customers of both products broader access and control.

The integration with SmartThings is expected to give users the ability to access their smart home features from anywhere from one place.
