Elon Musk’s chaotic management of Twitter has created a rare opening in the social media market. Meta may be looking to take advantage of it.

According to a tweet from Lia Haberman, an adjunct instructor at UCLA Extension, Meta has been conducting secret meetings with creators to brief them about its new social media platform.

Meta’s new platform also lets users of other apps interact with its users; they can follow and interact with the users’ posts. There is a main feed that will also feature recommended content.

The app will be decentralized and built on the back of Instagram but will be compatible with other apps such as Mastodon, a budding Twitter rival.

Content creators will have controls and account safety features, such as block accounts on Instagram will carry over.

The format of Meta’s new app looks quite similar to Twitter’s feed.

To this potential new rival, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino tweeted, “Game on!”
