Alaska Airlines Brings Passenger Analytics, Real-Time Data to Flights
The airline is the first in the U.S. to use real-time data app, Ditto, to offer passenger insights to flight attendants
Alaska Airlines is bringing real-time data and passenger analytics to its flights, leveraging software developer Ditto’s platform to enable analytic insights even without network connectivity.
The partnership marks the first time Ditto’s app has been harnessed by a U.S. airline, with the software intended to power Alaska Airlines’ crew-to-crew collaboration app. According to the airline, this app gives flight attendants easy access to internal processes such as guest services and delivery of onboard products.
The app also allows crew members to monitor data in real time, as well as identify and respond to any potential issues or hazards, and communicate with ground staff.
“Ditto is excited about the opportunity to help Alaska Airlines digitize its crew members,” said Adam Fish, Ditto CEO. “Our Intelligent Edge Platform enables Alaska Airlines’ enterprise app to truly work at the edge which is where crew do their jobs. So, it’s essential for them to access real-time safety data and passenger preferences, regardless of internet status, in order to perform their jobs well.
“Without the digitization of key processes, airlines miss out on crucial data and analytics as well as communications capabilities that are important for greater operational efficiencies and more highly optimized customer experiences.”
Last October, Ditto announced its collaboration with Apple to bring pre-flight data to any Apply product, creating a “digital hub” for airline staff and allowing them to access and sync pre-flight data.
The app is also currently being used by Etihad Airways, Lufthansa, Japan Airlines and the U.S. Air Force.
