Pittsburgh Airport, Ottonomy Testing Delivery Robots

Ottonomy is collaborating with Pittsburgh International Airport for a pilot project offering passengers access to Ottonomy’s delivery robot, “Ottobot.”

The project will take place at the airport’s xBridge Innovation Center, which has become a proof-of-concept and pilot site for new technologies. Under the trial, volunteer customers will be able to order drinks for delivery at designated drop-off points at the airport’s Airside Terminal. 

Ottobot is the first fully autonomous delivery robot deployed inside airports and is currently being used at multiple airports in the U.S. and Europe, including its launch at Cincinnati airport last December.

“Airports are dynamic and crowded environments and are a perfect testbed for real-world deployments of Ottobots,” said Ritukar Vijay, Ottonomy CEO. “Ottobot provides the only fully autonomous delivery experience for indoor and outdoor environments. We are seeing tremendous interest in our technology from leading airports and organizations across the globe.” 

Using built-in navigation software, Ottobots can autonomously navigate busy terminals and use data from an array of sensors to understand and interact with their environment Eachrobot is equipped with 2D lasers and multiple cameras.

In the future, the company hopes to roll out its Ottobots in a wider variety of industries, including retail and hospitality.
