Bolt, Starship Partner to Roll Out Global Food Delivery Robots
The rollout will help provide more sustainable and efficient delivery options to cities
Food delivery startup Bolt has partnered with robotics firm Starship Technologies, to roll out thousands of delivery robots across multiple countries. from this year.
The announcement coincides with Starship reaching 5 million commercial deliveries worldwide, the first startup to reach this milestone, it says. Under the new partnership, Starship will gain access to Bolt’s 100 million customers across 45 countries and provide a wider range of delivery services across different distances and order sizes.
Bolt and Starship said they intend to pursue sustainable operations through the partnership, using Bolt’s electric, zero-emission robots as a viable and widespread alternative to traditional delivery methods.
“Both Bolt and Starship have created innovative products which have revolutionized the way people move around and buy and receive goods in cities,” said Jevgeni Kabanov, Bolt’s President.
“Bolt and Starship share very similar goals of promoting sustainability in local transport,” Alastair Westgarth, Starship Technologies’ CEO. “In our case, we offer a convenient and on-demand autonomous delivery service, perfectly aligning with the mission of making cities more eco-friendly.”
The new rollout is set to begin in Tallinn, Estonia as a pilot program, with the possibility of expansion if the project is successful.
