Secqai, a company specializing in ultra-secure hardware and software, has launched a hybrid quantum large-language model (QLLM).

The QLLM aims to enhance AI applications by integrating quantum computing with traditional large language models (LLMs) to improve computational efficiency while enhancing problem-solving and linguistic understanding capabilities.

The new model, which the company said is a world first, resulted from Secqai's research into how the next generation of accelerated computing could be transformed with a QLLM and quantum machine learning.

The team built an in-house system to simulate a quantum computer and support gradient-based learning, a key concept in training AI models. They used it to develop a quantum attention mechanism, which integrates quantum computing principles into traditional attention mechanisms to enhance the efficiency and capability of AI by using quantum mechanical properties.

According to Secqai, potential applications include developing small-scale semiconductor designs, identifying hidden patterns within existing encryption standards, developing new material structures and drug discovery.

"With the launch of the world's first quantum LLM, we are entering a new era where AI can leverage quantum mechanics to improve outcomes," said Secqai CEO and founder Rahul Tyagi.

"This is an incredibly exciting step for quantum machine learning and has the potential to revolutionize multiple industries. Throughout this important International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, we will continue to explore the overlap between the AI and quantum computing worlds to advance these use cases."

Secqai plans to make its quantum LLM available to select partners for private Beta testing at the end of February.
