Qualcomm Launches New Product Portfolio for Industrial IoT
The new Qualcomm IQ technology was unveiled at Embedded World North America
Qualcomm has launched a new product portfolio for extreme Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications, featuring industrial-grade chipsets and on-device AI up to 100 tera operations per second.
The new technology series called Qualcomm IQ was unveiled at Embedded World North America.
The chipsets are purpose-built to power a range of premium, mid-tier and entry-level industrial and agricultural applications and use cases. These include robots, drones, industrial inspection and automation, advanced computer vision edge AI boxes and edge gateway analytics products in a high-compute, power-efficient and highly-tiered portfolio.
The suite of produdcts are built for the most challenging safety-grade operating environments and include wide temperature ranges and integrated safety demand to create a high-compute, power-efficient and highly-tiered portfolio, according to Qualcomm.
The company also launched the new Qualcomm IoT Solutions Framework. The framework uses IQ series chipsets with a combination of industry-leading-edge AI tools and reference applications for end- to-end solutions that streamline development and deployment and improve operational efficiencies.
It helps enterprises build solutions that enable easy development of end-to-end applications, reduces time to implementation and improves operational efficiencies, the company said.
For example, enterprises could use this framework to create customized solutions for a variety of use cases, including video security and surveillance, drone services, industrial automation and inspection or worker assistance with generative AI.
This strategic shift enables Qualcomm Technologies to drive industry transformation by integrating leading edge AI into connected devices across industries, the company said.
“The IQ series is focused on bringing leading edge AI into connected endpoints across industries,” said Nakul Duggal, group general manager, automotive, industrial and embedded IoT and cloud computing at Qualcomm.
“By providing our best- in-class technologies from simple to complex computing, we aim to be a trusted advisor and implementer across an ecosystem of IoT industry partners, systems integrators, and customers to help the whole ecosystem thrive.”
The company said its product lineup and market strategy are advancing to better assist customers and the wider industrial and embedded computing sectors in harnessing the inevitable integration of AI and IoT.
Qualcomm IQ solutions are available in a range of application processors and connectivity chips, from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to complex industrial-grade processors. They are also supported by a unified software architecture that enables customers and developers to scale and customize their offerings.
Qualcomm recently added Sequans’ 4G IoT technology into its broad product portfolio. This supports robust, low-power applications for optimized cellular connectivity for industrial IoT applications and strengthens its position as a leader in intelligence at the edge, the company said.
